Carlos Spector, abogado de migración en Texas, lucha por obtener asilo político para mexicanos que huyen por la violencia desatada por la “guerra contra el narco”. Una guerra invisible.

Según estudios recientes, México se convirtió en la “zona de conflicto con más muertos” justo después de Siria.  Abrumado por el gran número de solicitantes, y horrorizado por las historias de familias enteras asesinadas, extorsionadas y/o secuestradas, Spector sintió la obligación de actuar y probar que este conflicto es una herramienta utilizada por el gobierno Mexicano sistemáticamente: un genocidio. 

Enfocada en las historias de los personajes y retratada con un énfasis en lo visual, El Guardián de la Memoria, pone sobre la mesa no sólo lo que Carlos Spector llama “crímen autorizado” por el Estado y aprovechado por empresarios y carteles si no también, la complicidad que existe entre México y Estados Unidos con respecto a la violencia.  

Esta es la historia de los sobrevivientes que decidieron dejar de ser víctimas y la lucha personal de Spector por reconstruir un país fracturado, por no quedarnos sólo con los muertos, por preservar la memoria para sobrevivir al exilio y para que la tragedia no se repita.

Carlos Spector, an immigration lawyer born in El Paso, Texas, is fighting to obtain political asylum for Mexicans fleeing from violence. But they are not just fleeing, they are leaving home.

According to recent surveys, Mexico has become the “most deadly conflict zone” in the world, right after Syria. Overwhelmed by the huge number of requests, and horrified by the stories of entire families murdered, extorted and/or kidnapped, Spector felt the obligation to take action and to prove that the Mexican conflict is a systematic tool: a genocide, used in collaboration with the Mexican government and supported by the American government. 

A very cinematic film brings the audience behind the scenes of one of today’s most discussed regions – the place where Trump aims to build his wall –. 

This is a story of Mexicans who have crossed the border but not because of the economic reasons claimed... A story about the need of survivors and their lawyer to rebuild a broken country, to not end up with only the dead, to not lose their memories in order to survive in exile and so the tragedy is not repeated.
